The School of Business Administration held a Symposium for Graduates (Representatives) of the Class of 2020

At 2:30 p.m. on June 23, 2020, the Symposium for Graduates (Representatives) of the Class of 2020 from the School of Business Administration was held in the conference room on the fifth floor of Wenquan North Building. The symposium was attended by Professor Qian Xuefeng, dean of the SBA, Wang Hualu, secretary of the Party committee of the School, Professor Wu Haitao, deputy dean of the SBA, Li Fang, deputy secretary and Zhu Yanping, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School, representatives of undergraduate and postgraduate counselors, as well as representatives of the faculty from of the party office, undergraduate office and sub Youth League Committee of the School. Representatives of PhD, master and undergraduate graduates of the Class of 2020 participated in the symposium. The symposium was presided over by deputy secretary Li Fang. According to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, all participants wore masks and kept a safe distance.

Deputy secretary Li Fang first expressed heartfelt blessings for the safe and healthy return of graduates of the Class of 2020. Then, secretary Li asked the representatives of graduates to speak out freely, share their views about their own growth during the pandemic, epidemic prevention and control after their return to the University and the employment situation for graduates in 2020, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions for the development of the School and the University.

The representatives of the graduates spoke actively, expressing their gratitude to the School and their appreciation for the faculty, and giving advice and suggestions for the development of the University and the construction of the School based on their own learning and living experiences. The representatives of PhD graduates put forward their own suggestions on the reservation of academic lectures and training system; the representatives of master graduates put forward their own opinions on programme orientation, employment skills training and career planning. The representatives of undergraduate graduates talked about the details of their four-year study and life experience, and expressed their views on the academic guidance mechanism and internship guidance.

The leaders and faculty of the School carefully listened to and recorded the feedback from students, and distributed online questionnaires to collect students’ concerns. The leaders and faculty have responded to the questions that draw much concern. Some opinions and suggestions for other relevant departments of the University will also be timely fed back to the relevant functional departments to seek solutions together.

Afterwards, Professor Qian Xuefeng, the dean of the SBA delivered a warm speech to the graduates’ representatives, saying that “this is the most exciting symposium I have ever attended. He pointed out that this year is a special year, leaving us with regrets but never diminishing student-faculty relationship. After experiencing the baptism of the pandemic, students understand how to closely link personal security with national security. Meanwhile, he explained to the students that the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century” put forward by General Secretary Xi. On this basis, he put forward some suggestions to the graduates: learn to aim high and think about the direction of life development from a macro perspective; encourage students to grow into persons that have both ability and integrity, establish the concept of lifelong learning and make contributions to the society, not stare at short-term gains, but uphold the principle of honesty and integrity, integrate knowledge with practice; cultivate both perceptual and rational thinking, behaving with compassion and abiding by principles; learn to forge ahead, dare to innovate and work hard.

Finally, Wang Hualu, secretary of the Party committee of the School, made a summary speech on this symposium. On behalf of the School, Secretary Wang first expressed his gratitude to all graduate representatives and faculty members for their active participation and valuable opinions and suggestions. The School will implement relevant improvement measures as soon as possible, improve the management level and service quality, and create a better learning and living environment for the growth and development of students. Then, he extended congratulations to all graduates and wished all faculty and students good health.

After the symposium, all the participants took a group photo. This marks the successful ending of the Symposium for Graduates (Representatives) of the Class of 2020 from the School of Business Administration.
